The Cafeteria and the Dormitory

2 years ago, we were invited by Mr. Go to have dinner in his 'Cafeteria' and an exclusive tour of the 'Dormitory'. 🏢 I enjoyed the dinner buffet and the tour around the amenities and rooms of the Dormitory. But more than that, I learned a lot from Mr. Go during my conversation with him. 💯 1. He values the people who works with. I am impressed when he told me that he didn't book a flight back to Manila at night (while the rest of his team is flying back at 11 last night) because it will be unfair for the driver to wake up in the middle of the night and travel just to pick him up. So he picked a morning flight instead. 🤗 2. He ate the last piece of sushi in the plate because 'sayang'. He doesn't want leftovers. And it's exactly what my parents taught me too. Finish what you put on your plate. 🍣 3. He told me to be friends with 'competitors' because you will also learn from them. 🙏 I really appreciate Mr. Go and his entire team for coming t
If you were presented with an opportunity to do something great - to really leave a mark on the world and make a difference, would you take it? I think that most people would, I know that I certainly would. 🙌 Perhaps the reason that most people don’t end up doing this is because of the personal price that needs to be paid. One thing I’ve certainly learned for myself is that if I want to be able to influence other people and things around me I first need to be able to influence myself. If I want to create change around me, I need to start with myself. I can’t take my same old self into a bright new future - I’ll only darken it. 💥 The good news is that if I put proper focus on changing myself, on growing and learning and developing my skills - my potential will be unlimited. 💪 **** picture below is my inspiration. It's a dream come true to enter The Asian Institute of Management as a student. This happened in 2018 when I was enrolled by my prior company to an Executive Development

What's Life After High School Life?

Thank you ate Virene for believing in me. It's an honor to share my story to your graduating class. Thank you. 🙏 When I was in 4th year HS, my English teacher told me, in front of the class, when I can't give comments about the book Romeo & Juliet, because I didn't read it and I couldn't speak English that time, "Allego, you will never become successful in your life because you don't know English!". 😭 I was stunned. That got into me. I was so intimidated of the English language and becoming successful in general. Because I believed my teacher. 👩‍🏫 Most of my College subjects were in Filipino. Komunikasyon I, II, III, 10, 100. Kasaysayan, Agham, Matematika. If I can skip English, i will. Until I can't because there's Broadcasting,  Speech and others. I made sure I pass all of them because I didn't wanna repeat it. 📚 Fast forward Nov of 2003 when I first applied in the Call Center Industry. I was told that it's an English Only zone a

Fully Vaxxed

I didn't really wanna get vaccinated.  😨 Takot ako sa karayom! 💉 I've been reading several varying comments/reviews/opinions whether it is best to get vaccinated or not. We had to discuss within the family too, what would be our decision and next steps. I was concerned that there might be a severe reaction. I was actually afraid. 🤯 But having that fear made me curious and thought that maybe it's best to understand and get more education about it. I asked several friends in the medical field, friends who believe they should get and those who thought they shouldn't. I read many articles online from WHO to understand COVID-19 and how vaccine works - this is a good source you can also read.  ( https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/covid-19-vaccines/explainers ) 💡 I came across an article from BBC and i can totally relate to it -  Why some people don't want a vaccine - https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20210720-the-complexities-of-vaccine-h

Dress to Express

Dressing up is not to impress but to express your mood. It's not for anybody but for yourself. 🧚‍♂️ You can choose to dress up whenever you want. 💁‍♀️ Don't wait for special occasions to wear that darn thing.  Everyday is special because we are alive. 💃   #happymonday #workfromhome

200 Pesos

I remember Mike, talking in front of 100 people, a couple of years ago, started off his seminar by holding up a Php200 bill. In the room he asked. "Who would like this Php200 bill?" Hands started going up. Of course, I raised mine. He said, "I am going to give this Php200 bill to one of you" Then crumpled the 200 bill. I was surprised he did that. He then asked. "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air and again, I raised mine. "Well," he replied, "what if I do this?" He dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his black shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air and still, I wanted to get the Php200 bill. "Folks, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease it's value. It was still worth Php200. Many times in our lives, we

Are You a Duck or an Eagle?

I read in one of the newspaper an article about a Duck and an Eagle. It's about a Businessman-Writer Harvey Mackay who met a cab driver and taught him an important lesson. Based on the article, Harvey was waiting in line for a ride at the airport. When a cab pulled up, the first thing he notices was that the taxi was polished to a bright shine. He saw a a smartly dressed cab driver who jumped out and rounded the car to open the back passenger door for him. The driver introduced himself as Wally, gave Harvey a laminated card stating his mission statement: "To get my customers to their destination in the quickest, safest and cheapest way possible in friendly environment." This blew Harvey away  (and I too was blown away by this. I was thinking, "if only all cab drivers will be like that, how sweet it is, right? If only all people in this world would be like Wally... geez!"). As i continue to read, Harvey was already stuttering when Wally offered
