The Pull of Passion
By Jethsel M. Allego
Every time I want to move forward in my life or job, I add the energy of ENTHUSIASM to what I do. Enthusiasm is energy, it's an inward feeling moved outward. Energy moves me forward. Energy, the feeling of it, inspires me, moves me, and excites me.
This is what drives my PASSION for performance. Enthusiasm must start from WITHIN. It starts with my desire to accomplish. It starts with a PASSION. Something I am excited about. I know my world will reflect my attitude. If I’m excited, passionate, feel good about what I’m doing, I’ll get this back as sure as I see myself when I look in the mirror. If I’m dull, the world around me will reflect that.
I am passionate because this is what I enjoy doing. It's almost like a pull, a tug inside me, trying to move me to the place where I am celebrated, not tolerated. The company has somehow inspired me in everything that I do and therefore taught me to inspire others.
I learned that Passion is not all about excitement. WNS has made me realize that passion is also about my 3 favorite WNS old values, Honoring Your Commitment, Treating everyone as Equals and value differences, staying passionate about succeeding and celebrating each other’s successes. Commitment, for me is not trying or doing your best, it is doing something, whatever it takes, something that you’re not going to give up with no matter what. It is mixed with your burning desire to go beyond your limits. My almost 7 years of experience in this field made me committed to serve my customers and my clients. I have learned to love my career in the call center industry more than my profession as a Broadcast-Journalist.
I joined WNS in September 2008 as an Operations Manager for a TelCo account and been part of 2nd wave. It wasn’t that easy for us when we were starting. Challenges arose, miscommunication and misunderstanding took place, but hindrances have never stopped me from achieving my goal – that is to serve the people, deliver results, exceed our client’s target and expectation, and be the best that we can be. (To my ever outstanding and performing Team and TMUK Family – Ella, Bam, Migs, Carlo, Aja, Nica, Dobie, Dean, Dondy, Morris, Rhian, ate Diane, ate Leah, Mommy Luchi and Vikrant – I miss all of you!)
It requires an act of courage when stepping up to the plate and taking another leap for myself when I decided to move to an account I consider my turf and specialization – Financial.
I am focused – single-minded focused. I know my goals, I know what I want and I know how to get it. I make sure that every member of the team is exceeding performance, if not, within expectations. It has always been my strategy to know my people and ensure fair share of learning to everyone keeping them on the same page. They share best practices and pull every one up and perform, outperform.
I have learned that if you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got. (If you keep on doing what you’re doing, you will keep on getting what you’re getting). I always share this knowledge to my team and set a good standard for themselves that there’s got to be a change. Something that will deviate you from the same-not-so-good-old-results you were getting. If you think then what you’re doing right now is leading you towards the results you wanted to achieve, then go on, if not, then this is the perfect time to pause for a while and think – maybe, just maybe, you aren’t on the right track. (My 6 little Jets – Dion, Toni, Marco, Ginsey, Mariel and Teoddy – our 4 moons of bonding, learning and development have shown progress – and remember – Look at your goals, look at your behavior, see if your behavior matches your goal).
I celebrate my own and my team’s successes more than I can imagine. It has always been my attitude to recognize my team’s performance and how good they have been ever since. (“The Giants” – Shey, Natius, Mariel and Teoddy, you are my inspiration and my strength. Your positive outlook, drive to deliver results, and exceed expectations is something that I truly appreciate. Our differences have worked so well and made us to the top. I am proud of you, Team!)
Recognition doesn’t have to be that extravagant were fireworks would display, it is a little pat on the back, or a hand shake or a little conversation and let everyone know how good they are. We took pride for all the accomplishments the team have done so far. Yes, we aren’t perfect but with these differences and shortcomings, we learn and we grow.
It is with courage and regrets that I am leaving my team and leave them with my influence. I have been inspiring and motivating people to achieve their own goals and perform on their own. It is with my noble influence that my team will continue to perform and deliver good stats even without my direct supervision and management. I was able to change my team’s perspective and I have set it right to the top and upward it should go, and I definitely know how to steer the wheel for them.
While I am grateful with WNS, I have decided to make another move to advance my career. I have enjoyed working with everyone and I appreciate the opportunities that have given me. I’ve been able to develop this passion inside me and taught me that, PASSION is the key for me to succeed. And I have no doubt about that. I have realized that the fastest way to pass my own expectations and the expectations other's have for me is thru my own Passion. Something I'm excited about. Something I get up early at night to work or to stay up late. Something I love.
